“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”
James 3:5-6
The scripture for today reveals the need for us to ensure that every part of our body functions as instructed by the word of God. God gave a detailed description of the tongue through His word today. We should work with God who created the tongue to function by divine instruction.
“Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” James 3:11. The answer to this question is ‘No’. Your tongue is like a fountain that produces words, but you must ensure to speak well at all times.
Our flesh has been crucified with Christ, and the life we now live is by the faith in Jesus who died for our sins. We should remember the salvation works of God in us to control our tongue with the help of the Holy Spirit.
May the Lord help us to control our tongue from speaking evil in Jesus’ name. Amen
