“There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers”
Daniel 5:11
The cause of Christ is one every Christian must carry proudly. It is usually easy to read the Bible without letting ourselves marvel at the fact that what we just read happened in reality.
It is not just a story that Daniel chose to eat beans and vegetables in the midst of so much goodies in the strange land. It is not just a story that three youths insisted on honouring their God at the threat of their lives. Remember, they did not know there would be a fourth man in the fire – it was after they walked into the fire ready to die that they got to see that miracle and make a name for God in that land.
How many miracles have you deprived yourself and others from beholding because you keep choosing the other – seemingly easier – way out?
How many souls would have been saved and songs written of the miracle wrought by God through your life if you had chosen to stand firm even when it all seemed senseless?
May we not miss out on the beautiful story God wants to write through our lives because we refuse to stand out for Him. Amen.
