DON’T BE SENTIMENTAL ABOUT GOD’S WORK

“But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”

Jonah 1:3

Have you ever evaded God’s call due to emotions? Are you fleeing from His presence like Jonah?

Surrendering wholly to God requires relinquishing the right to validate personal opinions or emotions. In giving yourself to God, His opinions, instructions, and intentions are all that matters.

What do you do when God asks you to heal someone who has broken your heart? What do you do when one whom you’re wealthier than is the one God is telling you to serve? What do you do when the one whom you love so is the one God is telling you to chastise? What if God urges you to comfort another while you crave solitude?

Dear Christian, our walk with God will never be based off our feelings, moods, or even desires. He calls us to trust Him deeper, and in doing this,  we would realise that even though we are called to do things that are the opposite of how we feel, He is always right at the end.

Thought for the day: Today offers a chance to repent and heed God’s guidance.

Stay blessed.
