THERE’S A MANSION FOR YOU TOO

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

John 14:2

Dear believer, when was the last time you came across this verse? Did it excite you? Are you expectant? Imagine you have been anticipating a special guest, and to make their visit memorable, you prepared special delicacies and created a sweet ambiance. But when everything was set, and you expected the guest to arrive, they spoke rudely to you and called your preparations futile and busybody. How would you feel? Would you let it slide, insult back, or feel hurtfully disappointed?

Have you considered taking some time to think about Jesus and what He is preparing for you? Please do that. Jesus has gone over 2000years now just to prepare a place for you and me.  He keeps begging the Father to wait a bit in order to ensure that you and I are ready and have also taken the gospel to the end of the world. But imagine after all the preparation, we don’t make it home. Oh! What a loss! What a shame! So, it’s very important we make ourselves readily available.

I find it amazing how our Father can always exceed whatever thoughts we have. So, it’s a beautiful practice to ask the Holy Spirit to lay on your mind pictures of what is to come. There’s a mansion for you too, dear Christian. Jesus delivers on every one of His promises. And the absolute REST and JOY He has promised are worth waiting for. We have that hope as Christians. We have a reward and heritage that is bigger than anything else we have seen or can imagine. I certainly look forward to it.

Here’s a task for today. Take a minute, close your eyes, and tell the Holy Spirit this: “Precious Holy Spirit, make me ready in all respect for the mansion Christ is preparing for me. Align me, help me, make me ready. Help me not to use the things of this world to destroy my eternity. In the name of Jesus.” Take time out to say this prayer several times today and every other day (at the very least, five times). Don’t do it religiously but rather intentionally — meaning every word as you say it.

Prayer

Lord, I thank you because you always keep your word. Thank you so much. Father, I look forward to being with You in heaven. I look forward to beholding all You have prepared for me. Please help me not to be found wanting on that day. Holy Spirit, search me and exterminate everything that isn’t yours in my life. Thank you so much for loving me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
