He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:1

Psalm 91 is one of the most recited Psalms amongst Christians because the promises therein are so beautiful that they must be claimed constantly. However, we sometimes miss the fact that these promises are natural occurrences that happen because we consistently practice certain things.

Let’s enlighten ourselves with some verses in that chapter.

1. Psalm 91:1 – “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” This means that the first thing any Christian, hoping to witness the promises in this passage, must do is to dwell in the secret place of the Most High—God.

2. Psalm 91:2 – “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.” Psalm 91:9 – “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation” The Christian who will be delivered and kept is the one who has made God His refuge and has put all his trust in God.

3. Psalm 91:14 – “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.”  Do you know God’s name? How do you call His name? Do you love Him or only meet Him when you’re in need?

Highlight these verses, dear Christian and ensure you understand them the next time you read the promises in Psalm 91. In all our endeavours, let’s ensure to do our part even as we expect God to bless us and fulfill His promises.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for your beautiful promises. Please help me to stay continually in You. Help me not to be an ingrate who only wants to receive without working for it. Amen.
