“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Revelation 3:19

Beloved, the scripture above reveals that God rebukes and disciplines those He loves, guiding them towards the right path. God’s reproval is a sign of His love and His desire for us to return to Him whenever we stray.

Similarly, good parents do not indulge their children when they are doing wrong; instead, they chastise them out of love to ensure they learn from their mistakes and grow in the right direction.

As our divine Parent, God showers us with love by calling us to order through discipline whenever we deviate from His will. Jonah’s disobedience and Uzziah’s prideful actions are examples of how God orchestrates circumstances to teach us valuable lessons and lead us back to the right path. (Jonah 1-2; 2 Chro. 26:15-16)

Let us remember that God’s chastisement is a manifestation of His love. Therefore, whenever we are reproved by Him, it is an opportunity to learn and draw closer to Him.

Prayer

Father, help us to humbly accept Your chastisement in each season of our lives, knowing that it comes from Your love for us. Please destroy every spirit of spiritual stubbornness that causes us to deviate from your side each time you chastise us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
