“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2
This particular Bible text admonishes us to be transformed into a new being by renewing our minds. As Christians, we need to understand that our minds must be first renewed before any transformation can occur within us. Why? Because wherever our minds go, our lives follow.
Therefore, instead of waiting for a miracle to happen when our minds are in chaos, we need to first eliminate this chaos with God’s word. Let us not make excuses saying our minds are negative because our lives are difficult or because of the challenges we face. It’s actually the other way around – our lives are difficult because of the state of our hearts.
We must realise that we can control our thoughts by being mindful of what we feed our minds (Joshua 1:8, Philippians 4:8b). It is true that we face attacks in our minds because the human mind is a battlefield, not a playground. As we connect our spirits with the Holy Spirit, our spirits grow stronger. We must understand that our minds are servants to either the flesh or the spirit. When our spirit is weak, our minds run errands for the flesh. So, let’s maintain our daily connection with God to take control of our minds.
When we consistently build our spirits to commune with the Holy Spirit, our minds will be influenced by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.
