CROSSING THE RED SEA

“And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.”

Exodus 14:28-29

To understand the above verses better, let’s read the entire book of Exodus 14. It tells us of how the Lord rescued the Israelites through the same means He destroyed their enemies, the Egyptians.

If you don’t know who the Israelites were, from the above passage, you would have observed that they are God’s favoured and loved ones. They are not people anyone can just toy with and go free. They are God’s chosen.

Today, we Christians, who are not just so by mouth or religion, are God’s chosen. We are the children of God. This doesn’t exonerate the fact that we would go through a Red Sea at one point or another. Note that Red Sea could be one challenge or the other. The Egyptians could also represent challenges, addictions, sicknesses, warfare, and so on. But if we hold on to God’s word and stay true to His precepts, He will see us through whatever situation we find ourselves and destroy our problems.

What is required of us is to just put our complete trust in Him and don’t doubt His way of escape. When God was taking the children of Israel through the Red Sea, at some point, they started lamenting and wished they remained in Egypt, where they suffered. But because of God’s unfailing love, He still saw them through. As God’s children, just like we would trust our parents, much more trust should go to God. We shouldn’t grumble even if we don’t understand His ways because no matter the manner in which His escape appears, our safely is sure in Him.
