HUMILITY IN SERVICE

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

James 4:10

In today’s world, submission in the place of service is scarce. People find it hard to submit to those in the leadership position whether older or younger than them, even if it’s God that’s leading them. In the place of service, submission is very important. Without submission, there will be no lifting up. In the place of submission, there will be lots of Godly inheritance because God exalts the humble.

There was a lady who reached out for mentorship but God told me that her true mentor was another person submitted to me. Unknowing to me, this other person was younger to her. Hence, she had a problem with submitting under the leadership of this person.

God was strategic, He wanted to break and remold her into a better vessel. But she refused to submit because of the age difference. She had issues with the person’s level of achievement despite being younger. She felt the person always had this pride in her, and she wasn’t cut out for such. But in the true sense, it was pride taking its place in her. This was when I saw the reason for God’s instruction for her to submit to that younger person. It was indeed a struggle, but God took His place.

As a Christian, it is very crucial for us to exhibit true humility in the place service because this is one of God’s way to lifting us higher. And high up there, you will be required to bend more for God to keep lifting you.

Prayer

1. Dear Father, please uproot the seed of pride in me and make me as humble as you want.

2. Oh Lord, I pray that I won’t loss my glory because of pride or anything in Jesus’ name.

3. Dear Father, please renew the right Spirit in me, and help me never to miss out of your plans for my life.
