LIVING AN INTENTIONAL LIFE

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”

Ephesians 5:15

Dear Christian, do you know that the life you envision is very possible? The financially comfortable life, the heaven-on-earth marriage, the wisdom to raise children that will arise and call you blessed. In fact, everything good you desire is very possible.

It is not meant for just specially-selected people. It is not just for people who are privileged in one way or another. As a Christian, you were blessed greatly the day you came to Christ. However, you can only ever attain the place of intimacy and consistent breakthroughs if you are INTENTIONAL about your walk with Him. You would have to be intentional about studying His Word and giving yourself to prayer and radical obedience as opposed to living anyhow (praying only when you feel like it, or when you need something, feeding only on your pastor’s message on Sundays, living your life according to the world’s standards, etc.)

Growth cannot be achieved without INTENTIONALITY. It has to be you deciding to KNOW and DO only what is RIGHT. Even when it’s inconvenient. This is the only way to grow!

For instance, it can be very easy to admire marriages that are working, and then blame God because yours seems to be going wrong. But, have you checked yourself? Are you intentional? Did you continue to do all the little things you used to before that made your spouse respond in joy? Did you give yourself to learn creative ways to make your spouse feel loved? Did you intentionally set a regular practice for yourself and your spouse so that it becomes a system that helps you stand even in troubled times? How have you been intentional?

It is very difficult for anything to come out of a life that’s lived anyhow. And even if something good does come from it, you might lose it because you refuse to be INTENTIONAL. Can it be that we have lost or chased away our blessings because of how unintentional we have been? Be very deliberate in the things that concern your life, dear Christian. Be very deliberate.

Prayer

1. Lord, I ask for wisdom. Please, Lord, give me wisdom and understanding to run my life affairs according to your intention. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

2. Lord, pleasehelp me not to miss what you have for me because of my carelessness. Help me.

3. Lord, I repent today of all the things I have taken for granted. I’m so sorry, Lord. Help me from today to regard everything I receive with honour.
