“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Mark11:24
Another secret to answered prayers is to understand the conditions laid thereof. The Lord has indeed made everlasting promises to us, but when we begin to study them, we will see that they have conditions attached to them. And it can be futile to ask for something while ignoring the condition attached.
God has promised us joy, for example, but the condition here (Psalm 16:11) is that you must continually be in His presence, for it is in His presence we can find fullness of joy. This means if you’re looking for a life full of Joy, what you’re really asking for is that He teaches you to continually stay in His presence.
The same thing applies when your life is in disarray and you are seeking peace. God does promise to give that absolute and perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3), but it is for those whose hearts are stayed on Him. So, if you’re asking for peace, you’re coming to ask God to help your heart trust in Him and continually stay in Him.
There are many things we might not be able to access in God as long as we do not understand the preceding conditions He has set in place. So, as we seek, let us ask that our eyes be enlightened so we may understand what the Lord truly has for us.
Prayer
1. Lord, I ask that you open my heart and understanding so I might know how to ask and how to seek.
2. Help me, O Lord, that I might know and meet up with the conditions attached to receiving.
3. Father, please, take away the selfish nature in me that wants to always receive and afterward go to fulfill fleshy desires.
