“And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”
Matthew 28:7
Three days before, Jesus was killed and put in the sepulchre. Darkness, confusion, fear and uncertainty reigned, and all hope seemed lost. His disciples scattered, and Peter, the most vocal of them all, returned to seeking fish instead of men.
To an onlooker, it probably appeared like it was all over. Jesus was dead, and for all the prophecies, what could a dead man do? Logically, what good thing, what breakthrough, what miracle could occur after three days in the grave?
It really did look like the devil had gotten his way. But little did he know. The Lord does not forget His promises or sit back until His will is done on earth as it is in heaven, and even though to ordinary eyes it looked like the end of the story, it was just the beginning. The beginning of man’s redemption. The beginning of a revolution that would change the world forever. The beginning of the best thing to happen to all men bound by the chains of sin.
Jesus is alive! And He has the victory! The grave could not hold him down. This story teaches us two things. One, the resurrection of Christ secured our victory over sin, sickness, and poverty and has given us the grace to live a wholesome life. Two, no matter how bleak things look, as long as God is on the matter, you can rest assured that there will be victory.
Prayer
1. Dear Lord, thank you for always keeping your word and securing our victory. Thank you for dying and resurrecting because of me.
2. Dear Father, help me never to give up on the things you have promised, no matter how impossible it looks.
