THE POWER OF CORPORATE PRAYER

“Again, I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Matthew 18:19-20.

Prayer is one of the essential activities for any believer who wants to stay intimate with God, exercise discernment and walk in His power. Hence, the power of personal prayer cannot be overemphasised. However, it is easy to let personal prayers take an equally important place of corporate prayers, which should not be so. In the Kingdom of God, everything has its rightful place, and no matter how powerful and important one is, it can never take the place of another.

Corporate prayers are prayers made together with like-minded believers over a particular matter. When burdens are shared and dwelt upon in prayer, revivals are birthed. Remember, “the earnest prayer of the righteous has great power and produces wonderful results” Jas. 5:16b. The Bible even tells us how much corporate prayer is valued when Jesus tells us that when two or more agree on a thing, it shall be established. He even further tells us how much He honours corporate prayers in that as far as two or more believers are gathered, He is undoubtedly there.

God values the gathering of the saints, and we must ensure we do not miss out on it. We were created to operate as a body with different gifts and anointing, so not participating in corporate prayer might also mean we lose out on corporate anointing and blessings. If you already have a fellowship, please take corporate prayers very seriously. If not, then it is crucial that you let God lead you to one.

Shalom!
