ARE YOU A WATCHMAN?

“Ye that makes mention of the LORD keep not silence.”

Isaiah 62:6

Who’s a watchman? A watchman is appointed to keep watch of the physical, material, or spiritual well-being of those put under his care.

For example, parents serve as watchmen to their children. Pastors serve as watchmen to their congregations. Teachers serve as watchmen to their pupils/students. Even government acts as a watchman to its citizens.

But today, we want to look into the Christian watchman—God’s watchman.

As a Christian, you’re a watchman for God. And there are some duties expected of you. But one of your duties is to cry against sin and warn people of its consequences.

When you behold your life today, can you honestly say you’re a faithful watchman for God? Do you indulge people when they commit sin, or do you humbly warn them of its consequences? Do you correct in love or push them away in condemnation?

Every day, a hundred thousand souls are passing one by one away in Christless guilt and gloom. But as a Christian, what part are you playing towards the proliferation of souls into God’s kingdom? Are you too shy to speak about Jesus to sinners? Do you feel everyone should already know about Christ, and hence there is no need for soul-winning anymore?

You are a watchman to those in the world. So, stop leaving your duty post. God is counting on you.

Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 33:1-19

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for your word of reminder yet again. Truthfully, I haven’t been an effective watchman. Please have mercy on me. Please put the love of your people in my heart so that I may watch over them both physically and spiritually. Thank You for answered prayers. For I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
