GOD’S ESCAPE ROUTE

“God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

1 Corinthians 10:13

One scripture that has made me realise that this life is indeed not a bed of roses is John 16:33, which says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Anytime my mind goes to that scripture, it reminds me that some inevitable circumstances will befall man no matter his stand in Christ. Jesus, Himself has told us that, in this world, we will face challenges; there will be persecutions, killings, and all. But here again, He assures us that He is in control and has overcome those situations for us.

So, with that scripture at heart, situations become normalised if I’m going through any trouble. I do not make big deals from whatever trial I’m facing. I am reassured that it’s just for a particular period and that the Lord has even overcome it. It’s like seeking admission into a school owned by your father; even though you will be admitted into that school, you still have to pass the entrance exam for formality. In the same light, we are sure He will accept us into the next level we desire, but there are prices to pay.

In life, we would face temptations (examinations), but we must know that Jesus has overcome them for us. When writing exams in a new class, it’s not possible that you will be given questions higher than your capacity or below your ability. You can’t be entering into level 2, and you’re given an exam for those in level 4.

This is the same way it is with God. He has promised us that He will not let us be tempted beyond our abilities in the temptations. He went further to say, “but with the temptation, He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

Little wonder He says in Jer. 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” NIV puts the latter part this way, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

To you, God’s plans may look like you’re going through fire, but be sensitive that in that fire, God is there with you as He was with the three Hebrews, and He won’t forsake you. “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.”

The 3 Hebrews
Finally, Beloved, God has commanded you today to “…Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Prayer

Dear Father, I thank you for your assurance to me this day. It comforts my heart to know I’m not alone in this journey. I have fainted in my heart and helplessly wept, forgetting that you are with me. Have mercy on me for neglecting your words of love and courage. I ask, Dear Lord, that you strengthen my heart; awaken my inner man to be sensitive to your ways. Help me know when you’re taking me through the escape route. Hold me tight so that I may not give up, Sweet Father. Thank you for receiving me again. In Jesus’ name, I have prayed. Amen.
