“Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.”
Psalm 138:6
The stature of God has never made Him farther than we need Him to be. Even the distance between heaven and earth becomes short when our desire is set on Him.
As with men, our attitude often changes when our level changes. It may not be a deliberate decision to be unavailable, but the best of men is still a man. Demands increase, attention becomes divided, and priorities shift. Nevertheless, God’s greatness leaves no one behind.
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” — Isaiah 55:6–7.
God, though supreme and exalted, is near to those who seek Him. Is it not beautiful to speak of God’s wondrous works from personal experience rather than mere reports? However, there is a clause: “but.” Those who stand equal with God cannot see Him. It takes humility to host God in the heart. Those who experience His presence are those devoted to genuine worship.
Charge: Walk humbly before God, seek Him sincerely, and live with the assurance that He is nearer than you think.
