“And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.”
Psalm 37:40
It is possible to know God as a Provider, a Shepherd, or even a Father, yet not know Him as a Deliverer. The dimension of God we often speak about depends largely on our encounters with Him. When Jesus asked His disciples who people said He was, there were several opinions—some said John the Baptist, others Elijah, and many other views that were not recorded. The essence of that moment was to reveal Christ in His true identity as the Son of God.
A partial knowledge of God determines how far we go with Him and even the benefits we enjoy from Him. God is not one option among many deliverers; He is the ultimate Deliverer who alone can save from every trouble. Knowing Him in this dimension secures our lives and our future from destruction.
It is not a matter of “if God will,” for He is both willing and able to deliver those who trust in Him. Are there afflictions in your soul—torments that flood your spirit with unrest? Are you facing threats that have stolen your peace and made you feel like a fugitive in your own home? Stand firm like the three Hebrew men and declare, “Our God is able to deliver us, and even if He does not, we will not bow.”
Charge: Never bow to the troubles of life. God is able to deliver you—and He will.
