“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Habakkuk 2:3
When an expected response is delayed, it can be deeply troubling, especially when the need feels urgent. Scripture acknowledges this feeling: “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick, but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12). It becomes even more painful when people who promised to help fail us. Over time, this can shape our hearts to believe that all men are unreliable and that promises are empty.
Because of repeated disappointments from people, we may begin to think the same way about God, especially when His answer seems slow. This often happens because we set our own deadlines and expect God to work within them. When those expectations are not met, pressure rises, and desperation pushes many to consider ungodly options. But Scripture is clear: the vision has an appointed time, and when that time comes, it will not fail. God is not bound by our clocks; He works according to His perfect plan.
God uses faith to teach us patience, and patience to teach us complete dependence on Him. Throughout Scripture, there is no record of God speaking a word that later failed. Every promise He made came to pass in its season. His character has not changed. He cannot lie, and He will not start now. Whatever He has said concerning your life will come to fulfilment at the time He has appointed.
Charge: There’s a season for every man apportioned by God. We cannot afford to miss God’s timing by judging Him to be late using our own timing.
