“For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.”

Zephaniah 3:9

If you’ve ever cooked using charcoal, this analogy will make perfect sense. You’d have noticed how fierce the fire becomes when the charcoals are closely packed in a coal pot. But the moment one piece is set aside, it begins to lose its heat, even though the same gentle breeze that once kept it burning now hastens its coldness. Firewood that stays together burns brighter and faster; separated, it may still generate heat, but it cannot be relied on for lasting fire.

So it is with every believer. Unity is a language. Beyond that, it is a spiritual currency with which we transact with God. The many church denominations we see today did not arise to prove the existence of different gods; instead, they stand as a testament that people of different races, backgrounds, and expressions can come under the rulership of Jesus freely and without condemnation.

We may differ in birth, citizenship, gender, and perception, but the moment our lives are surrendered to Christ, we become bound by His covenant. No believer has a life outside of Christ—our identity is now found in Him.

Charge: God is calling you to live in unity and in the bond of faith, without conflicting desires.
