“The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.”
2 Samuel 23:3
True leadership is not measured by titles or authority, but by the fear of God that governs decisions and actions. God Himself lays down the principle that those who rule must do so with justice and in His fear. To lead in the fear of God is to recognise that leadership is first accountability to Him before it is stewardship over people.
David, Israel’s great king, learned that true leadership does not rest on human wisdom or strength but on reverence for God. When leaders forget the fear of God, corruption, oppression, and selfish ambition thrive. But when leaders govern with holy reverence, justice flows, and people rejoice (Proverbs 29:2).
As His children, we may not all hold political or national offices, but each of us has spheres of influence — families, friendships, ministries, or communities. God expects us to lead there with justice and with His fear at the centre. The higher the responsibility, the deeper the demand for reverence.
Charge: Lead with His fear in whatever position you find yourself.
