“For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed.”
Romans 15:18
A man who chases after vanity may boast of his acquisition at every given opportunity, but those whose heritage is the Lord, proclaim His works relentlessly in words and deeds. What we believe is what we speak, and what we speak is what we live. Believers should beware of those whose actions are contrary to what they preach.
The book of 1 Corinthians 12:3 says: “No man speaking by the Spirit calleth Jesus accursed” (Paraphrased), meaning that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ cannot, and should not speak anything not influenced by the Spirit of God. Our words are tied to our soul, and our soul to our spirit. Hence, no man can utter any words devoid of depth from his spirit.
The confession of our faith becomes our badge for recognition in a mixed world. We can’t then afford to let our mouths run carelessly, contrary to what we received. Things that don’t glorify God must not be heard from the same mouth dedicated to the worship of Yaweh. At the peak of it all; in the time of trouble and perplexity, our yes remains yes, and our no remains no.
Charge: Be careful; neither your words nor your actions should betray God at any time.
