“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:21
One of the greatest gifts a believer can have is the gift of discernment. It ensures balance in our choices of fellowship with God and men. Some parents have gone against their children because they couldn’t differentiate what’s false from what seems false. Maybe as a result of misinformation from a trusted person, and because their senses required for discernment are put to sleep rather than being activated, an offence block was laid before them.
Likewise are the children who have wronged their parents due to their inability to accurately discern what’s true. Discernment functions by the use of spiritual senses. According to the book of Hebrews 5:14, “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
It is our senses, hence, that teach us to observe and as well imbibe in us the act of accurate judgement through constant practice. We let our ears, eyes, nose, tongue and skin be subjected to God for training to become effective in proving what is false and true.
Charge: Allow the Spirit of God to use your senses henceforth for right judgment.
