“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1.

Life can be unpredictable and chaotic at times. One moment we’re sailing smoothly, and the next, we’re hit with a storm that threatens to capsize us. But as believers, we have a rock that we can cling to in times of trouble.

God is not just a distant observer who watches us struggle—He is a present help, refuge, and source of strength. He is the One who stands firm when everything else is shaking.

In Psalm 46, we see a powerful picture of God’s presence amid chaos. The Psalmist writes, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea” (Psalm 46:1-2).

Charge: Any help outside God renders us helpless.
