In a world often influenced by covetousness and greed, it’s essential for Christians to assess the worth they place on Jesus. This reflective question prompts us to consider the significance of Jesus in our lives and the extent to which we prioritise our faith over material pursuits.
Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, is infamous for betraying Jesus in exchange for a mere thirty pieces of silver. His motivation was greed, despite being a close follower of Christ. He failed to recognise the immense grace upon Him.
Today, many who profess to be Christians may act contrary to their faith, misrepresenting Jesus for worldly pleasures and positions. Regrettably, their actions are observed by others who may innocently follow in their footsteps for guidance.
Jesus, as the Son of God and the Savior of the world, is of immeasurable worth. While some may attach no value to Jesus, we, as believers, hold Him in the highest regard.
We cannot overstate the value of the One who offers salvation and redemption from sin, granting eternal life through His death and resurrection. Therefore, as Christ’s representatives on earth, let’s serve as models to others, introducing them to the knowledge of God through our selflessness, compassion, forgiveness, and the teachings of Jesus.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I recognise that my strength alone is insufficient to maintain my love for You. I pray for the grace to love You more deeply than ever before. If there is anything in my life that might hinder my love for You, I ask that it be nullified in Jesus’ name. Amen.
