“He which testified these things saith, surely, I come quickly Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus”.
Revelation 20:22
Earlier this year, my team paid a surprise visit to a school early one morning. It was obvious that the headteacher and other staff were caught off guard because they were not prepared. For 14 weeks since school had resumed, the teachers had not written lesson notes and the headteacher had not bothered reporting the situation until our visit. They didn’t expect us to come that day; had they known, they would have prepared and awaited our inspection.
This is the same way Jesus will come one day—when we least expect it. In the scripture above, Jesus says, “I come quickly,”—which means that He will come when we are unaware. Therefore, it is paramount to prepare for His coming. He will come like a thief in the night—2 Peter 3:10.
We have to be conscious daily of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and remain vigilant. His delay does not mean He will not come. He is patiently waiting for the gospel to reach those who haven’t heard of Him, and for you to amend your ways or surrender your life to Him. He is not happy seeing souls perish. However, remember, His patience will not last forever. He will come soon.
Charge: When Jesus said, “Surely, I come quickly”, He meant it; therefore, get prepared!
