There has been a common joke, “Imagine God still requires that we sacrifice the blood of cows in recent times for the atonement of our sins, everyone would be in huge debt because the prices of cows now range up to a million naira.” Thanks be to God for sacrificing His Son and accepting His blood for the remission of our sins.
Considering the way and manner we often disobey God, how many cows could ever sort us out? Impossible, right! This contract was sealed by the blood of Jesus Christ—the reason we can boldly approach the throne of God’s grace and obtain mercy in times of need. This covenant has secured us access to God here on earth and life eternal.
As beneficiaries of this supreme covenant, we are to live conscious of it against every condemnation or guilt. Yet we should not be ignorant of the intensity of this covenant, because it is not a license for continuous sinful living.
Charge: Dearly beloved, Jesus Christ has bypassed all animal sacrifices, using His own blood as the price to set us free once and for all.
