“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

1 Corinthians 15:20-22

Death came into the world like a thief in the night, claiming every human life without exception. Yet in 1 Corinthians 15:20–22, Paul reveals a divine reversal: “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.” The resurrection of Jesus is the guarantee of what is to come for all who are in Him. Just as the firstfruits of a harvest signal the abundance that follows, Christ’s rising from the grave assures us that death is no longer the final word.

Consider a vineyard at harvest. The first grapes picked are not just for tasting—they proclaim the coming abundance of the entire harvest. So it is with Christ. His resurrection is the pledge, the prototype, and the proof that death’s dominion has been broken. Those who follow Him are not left in despair or fear, but given an assurance that just as He was raised, so shall they be made alive.

In Christ, death is no longer a conqueror but a defeated foe, and our future is secured in His triumph. The firstfruits have risen, and in Him, all who belong to Him will follow, bringing hope, courage, and joy to hearts that dare to believe.

Charge: Living in the light of this truth transforms everything. We no longer view life through the lens of loss, decay, or finality. Every moment carries the weight of eternity; every trial is overshadowed by the certainty of ultimate victory.

Resurrection is no longer a distant possibility; it is a present reality awaiting fulfilment in those who are united with Him.
