“And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.”
Exodus 9:5
A lady waiting for long-overdue payment was told repeatedly, “Soon.” Tired of uncertainty, she lost hope. One day, a letter arrived stating a specific date for release. She circled it on her calendar and waited. On that very day, the funds arrived exactly as promised. What changed her posture was not the promise itself, but the appointed time attached to it.
Exodus 9:5 reminds us that God is not vague with His promises. When He speaks, sometimes, He not only declares what He will do, but also when. Our opening verse also reveals a God who governs time as carefully as He governs power. What looks delayed to men is often divinely scheduled in heaven.
Israel had watched plague after plague unfold, yet God’s word carried a different weight: “to morrow.” Not someday. Not eventually. God anchored His word to a moment, teaching us that faith is not built on wishful thinking but on divine certainty. When God appoints a set time, the outcome is already settled.
Charge: When God says, “Thou shalt see it again,” He is speaking to hope that has been buried by waiting. He is declaring restoration, confirmation, and visible proof.
