“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
Ephesians 2:13
There was a man who had once worked in a large company but was dismissed after a serious mistake. His ID card was withdrawn, his access revoked, and his name removed from the system. Even though he passed by the building every day, he could no longer enter. Security knew his face, but rules were rules—former staff were not allowed in. He remained close in distance, yet far in status.
Years later, the company’s founder, who also happened to be his uncle, took responsibility for the mistake, paid the penalties involved, and personally reinstated him. On the day the man returned, he didn’t sneak in or beg the guards. He walked in freely, escorted by the founder himself. The doors that once shut him out now opened without resistance, not because his past had changed, but because someone with authority paid the price for his restoration.
That’s what Christ Jesus did as explained in Ephesians 2:13: “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Sin had stripped us of access. We were alive, but distant. Known, but excluded. No effort, good behaviour, or regret could restore that access. What we could not regain by merit, Christ secured by His blood.
Charge: We do not stand outside hoping to be noticed; we stand inside because the price has been fully paid. Once far off, now brought near, and made possible by the blood.
