“For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.”

Malachi 2:7

By Scripture, we are made to understand that being sent is not merely about physical travel or going somewhere; it’s about representing Someone. And when God sends a man, He backs him with His Word and His authority. Consider the story of Moses, whom God empowered by His Word to stand before Pharaoh: “Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say” (Exodus 4:12). What transformed Moses from a timid shepherd into a bold deliverer wasn’t confidence in himself, but assurance in the One who sent him.

Yet, in the days of Malachi, the priests had forgotten this sacred responsibility. Although they were sent ones, they had already stopped speaking the truth and started pleasing men. God had to remind them that their words carried weight and that they were envoys of divine instruction, meant to guide others to life.

So, beloved, every believer in Christ is now a “sent one.” Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). You may not stand on a pulpit, but in your workplace, your family, or your community, your life and words represent the King, Jesus.

Charge: As the world listens to your words and observes your life, make sure what they hear and see points them directly to God.

Are your lips keeping knowledge? Do your words reflect the One who sent you?
