“Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires…”
Isaiah 24:15a
In the midst of uncertainty and gross darkness, our response should glorify God. Job’s suffering as recorded in the Scriptures was a test of faith and he faithfully walked with God through it to victory. Whenever we experience the other side of life, who do we turn to? Or where do we seek refuge?
As beautiful as life can be to us, there are other shades of life’s journey that seek to threaten our faith in God. When we encounter such times, seasons or phases of life; give glory to God. Paul and Silas went about proclaiming the gospel with signs following, but got beaten and sent to prison. In that enclosed area, bound with chains and subjected to pains, Paul and Silas sang praises to God.
Even under the harshest circumstances, we read in the Scriptures how God’s people still responded to God’s gift of grace through faith in Jesus. These people find joy in a world where, for most people, gladness has been banished from the earth.
Charge: Those who rejoice in the Lord can rejoice in tribulation, and by faith will triumph. Even in the darkest of times, let us keep up our good thoughts of God. If none of these trials move us, then we glorify the Lord in pain.
