“A faithful witness will not lie: But a false witness will utter lies.”
Proverbs 14:5
The slight difference between faithfulness and falsehood is standing for the truth. The truth itself is Jesus, as recorded in the Scriptures — John 14:6. So, if we say that Jesus lives in us, then it simply means that the truth dwells in us. Our knowledge of the Scripture reveals God’s faithfulness through every one of His words and actions to His people.
As we navigate through life, we may encounter situations that challenge our ability to be honest. It might be tempting to exaggerate our accomplishments or bend the truth to avoid conflict, but this verse encourages us to be faithful in our words. When we commit to being truthful, we demonstrate not only our integrity but also our respect for others. Being truthful may require courage, but it ultimately brings peace and clarity to our relationships.
Beloved, our testimonies should mirror His truth and demonstrate integrity that promotes trust and connection. But we cannot profess the truth when our actions oppose our words. That is not Christ-like! Our faithfulness to God and everyone around us must be portrayed through our words and acts of faith.
Charge: Whenever we choose honesty as our default response, we reflect the character of God — who is the ultimate source of truth.
