“Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man who is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.”
John 9:16
Being religious often focuses on rules, rituals, and appearances, while being spiritual involves a heartfelt connection with God, guided by love, grace, and a personal relationship with Him. Sometimes, we get so religious with activities that we lose the essence of these religious activities or take them for granted.
As followers of Christ, we are called to walk steadily with Him, wholly surrender ourselves, and promote His kingdom without undermining the core essence of our service to Him.
In our daily lives, we should aim to be spiritual rather than religious, as this was a priority for Jesus during His time on earth while carrying out His ministry. Based on our text today, it is important not to lose sight of the essence of our relationship with God; let us seek to be spiritually guided.
Charge: Prioritise being spiritual rather than religious.
