“And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.”
Mark 8:5
In today’s devotion, Jesus asks His disciples, “How many loaves of bread do you have?” They respond with what seems like a small amount, “Seven.” Jesus didn’t bless an empty basket; He blessed what they had despite his disciples’ bewilderment.
This interaction highlights the importance of offering what we have, no matter how little, to God’s work. Jesus doesn’t bless empty hands; He takes what we have and multiplies it for His purposes. But how can He bless the little we have when we offer Him nothing to multiply?
God can do all things, but He won’t do what He has graced you with the capacity to do. Blessing doesn’t come from nothing. Find something; it can be your talents, gifts, skills, anything that He can bless, and watch Him multiply your little.
Charge: What do you have that God can bless?
