“The people which sat in darkness saw great light; And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death Light is sprung up.”

Matthew 4:16

To everyone whose light is kindled, they have the grace to show the same to the people of the world. The responsibility of light is to displace darkness and provide the assurance of ease while working during the day. Light doesn’t blend with darkness; such a compromise will devalue its standard.

Jesus, for example, addressed Himself as the Light of the world in His teachings (John 9:5, 12:46). And in our text today, it’s a witness’ report/account from Matthew—a disciple of Christ, showcasing that wherever Jesus went, He brought light. How many people have seen your light?

Any godly character hidden for the fear of criticism from friends or foes will get its light corrupted. God’s plan is to showcase you to the world. He’s proud of you, and He wants you to be proud of Him. Until you rise and shine, the world of those living in darkness will remain a desolate place to be. People are hungry and seeking the truth. Will you shine?

Charge: Get up and show Jesus to the world. It’s who you’re meant to be.
