“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.”
Romans 4:18
The story of Father Abraham reminds us that when all logic fails, and nature seems to have the final say, there is only one thing that we must never lose sight of—our hope in God against all hope. Abraham still believed even when his body was as good as dead and Sarah’s womb was barren.
Our Scripture for today teaches us to believe “against hope,” meaning that even when every natural reason to hope has faded, we choose to anchor ourselves in the unchanging Word of God. Believing in God against all hope means standing firm when everything around you is shaking. Faith is not denying the reality; it’s trusting in the truth of God’s promise spoken to you.
Many times, life will present you with situations that defy your reasoning, circumstances like unanswered prayers, delayed promises, or impossible odds to mention a few. But like Abraham, you’re called to trust what God said above what you see.
Charge: What has God spoken concerning your life? Hold on to it. He who promised is faithful.
