“A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? Saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?”
Malachi 1:6
Faithfulness is a question of loyalty to oneself and the organisation to which one belongs. It is a state of rightful living, with or without being followed up by anyone. It can also be seen as the ability to deliver and exceed expectations when committed to either little or much.
Service at every level demands faithfulness—the ability to stay true and through without cutting corners. Even God demands faithfulness from us in the things to which He has entrusted us. But we tend to see ourselves like we’re never capable to meet the demands for excellence and multiplication. The truth is that God has provided us everything we need to make the most of every gift and skill given to us.
In the talent parable, the excuse given by the servant with one talent was that he believed his master reaped where he had not sown. This is a mindset that doesn’t want to contribute to the growth of others because they’re perceived to be better off than others. We owe God everything, and when He requires us of our possessions, we should count it a privilege to serve Him with His provision.
Charge: Be faithful in the little that the Lord has committed into your hands.
