“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, When their wrath was kindled against us.”
Psalm 124:2-3
The sense of acknowledgement of God’s sufficiency over our inadequacy is a true reflection of gratuity which can never be entirely repaid. Some things remain unimaginable, even when we try to put our best together just so it can be logically analysed. It’s always God at the beginning, centre and the end of it all; and that leaves us to marvel at the wondrous works, confessing “If not for God.”
That must have been the point David was; perhaps, he had measured the length, depth, and breadth of how he remained standing despite fighting so numerous wars—the beasts, giants, and immeasurable troops at war.
And right there, his senses came to him, “This is no ordinary feat to be achieved in a man’s lifetime. If not for God…” Till tomorrow, God still fights our battles and calls off the wars we cannot handle. God is particular about getting everyone to fulfil their life’s goal and purpose.
Charge: Please, let God in on that battle or war that you cannot handle on your own. For by strength shall no man prevail.
