“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Psalm 133:1

It is wonderful, pleasant and beautiful when God’s people get along or live together in harmony. There is an emphasis on “God’s people” because God admonished us in the book of Hebrews 12:14 to make every effort to live in peace with everyone.

God wants us to live in peace with everyone, and work toward getting along with all people, including non-believers, irrespective of our different beliefs, values and morals. However, there’s a need to draw a line between getting along and not being unequally yoked with unbelievers, by the help of God. It is expected that we exhibit the character of Jesus who is the “Prince of Peace” by ensuring peaceful coexistence with everyone around us.

The beauty of unity is seen when brethren dwell together in unity. As children of God, we are expected to be united in faith, love and peace just as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one. Unity is beautifully expressed between the three Godhead, and we are to exhibit this trait as an expressive image of the Trinity. As God’s people, we enjoy all of God’s goodness and beauty when we dwell in peace and unity.

Charge: Henceforth, decide to dwell in unity with everyone you come across.
