“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
God’s promise of rest comes with ease to relieve and refresh our souls. Are you tired? Worn or burned out? God has promised you rest provided you come to Him.
Life itself is filled with so much pressure, struggles and undue stress, aimed at causing people to get easily tired and anxious. We daily encounter some situations that pose threats to either our spiritual life, financial capacity, or mental state. Our human strength is limited in the midst of life trials, burdens and incessant problems—hence, the need for us to come into God’s promise of rest.
God’s promise of rest is the only antidote against life’s tragedy and trauma, and we need to intentionally seek the Lord daily to come into this easiness. Human knowledge has been consistently defied, while God’s wisdom has been constantly proven to be the only means to surmount life’s pressures. We are encouraged to drop those heavy burdens at the feet of the cross, look up to Jesus—the Author and Finisher of our faith—and come into the Lord’s presence by praising Him, studying, meditating, and praying the word of God.
Charge: Come to the Father today, and He will give you rest on all sides.
