“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10

If we decide to carry out a survey of what believers do during their time for devotion, we will be amazed at the percentage of people who engage God without waiting to hear from Him. Dearly Beloved, are you guilty or not? This is not a call to accusation or condemnation, but an opportunity to reflect on how we commune with our heavenly Father daily.

It is a good thing to come into God’s presence with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, and be joyful unto Him and bless His holy name. In fact, God yearns to hear us speak with Him as we present our petitions, supplications and requests to Him in the form of heartfelt prayers.

Now, the most important thing, like the icing on the cake which beautifies all other spiritual activities during our time in God’s presence, is the attitude of practicing stillness. God desires that we listen to His voice rather than always talking all through the time allotted to commune with Him. Let’s do less talking this year because we know that God already knows what we need even before we ask Him.

Charge: Receive the strength to stay still in God’s presence always.

Stay blessed, Beloved.
