“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.”

Psalm 107:1

Gratitude is a powerful virtue that opens doors to divine blessings. The Word of God instructs us to give thanks in all circumstances, acknowledging His goodness and enduring mercy. Sadly, many take the kindness of God for granted, failing to recognize the importance of a grateful heart.

Imagine a parent with two children. After years of sacrifice—paying school fees and providing every need—one child expresses heartfelt gratitude upon graduating, perhaps with a thoughtful gift or simple words of thanks. Meanwhile, the other remains silent, offering no acknowledgment. When both later approach the parent for support as they prepare for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which child would naturally receive the first consideration?

This scenario reflects how our gratitude (or lack of it) influences God’s response to us. When we cultivate a heart of gratitude, we honor God and position ourselves to receive even more of His blessings. Gratitude is not limited to mere words; it is demonstrated through our praise, worship, obedience, service, and willingness to give of our resources. Beloved, reflect on God’s unending mercy, provision, and love in your life. Let your thankfulness be evident in your daily actions. A heart of gratitude is a magnet for divine favor, and it keeps the windows of heaven open over your life.

Charge: Live a life of gratitude, showing your thanks to God in words and also in actions, and you will continue to experience His goodness and mercy.
