“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
If you are able to feed the world, ensuring that no one goes hungry, and yet you have no love, it is for nought. If you have empathy and sympathy but are unable to tell GOD’S TRUTH in love, all your “good intentions” are for nought. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love does not envy. Love puts the other before oneself. Love suffers long and sees the best in another. Love never fails.
As Christians, we must know this: just as a sandwich isn’t complete without the necessary fillings, or how Melon (egusi) soup isn’t complete until you add melon seed, so also, the Christian life isn’t complete until you add love—the God kind of love. Even if you buy the best bread in the world, that doesn’t make it a sandwich. Even if you add the best ingredients in the world to your soup, as long as there’s no melon seed, it’s still not Egusi soup. In the same way, even if you do all the good things you can think of, you still haven’t started until love is part of the equation.
It is great to have faith, hope, empathy, etc., but always remember that love is the greatest. Once love is removed, whatever your intentions are loses its essence.
Charge: Do everything from love.
