“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Romans 5:5
There is something we often say, especially here in Nigeria: “God no go shame us.” I have found myself wondering if we say that because we truly know our God and are absolutely certain that there’s no possibility of Him “shaming us,” or if we are sitting on the fence, deliberating whether He will shame us or not.
Are you not aware that God can keep you? Do you not know that even if the world thinks you are disadvantaged, the Lord’s way is a treasure? Do you not know that even when it looks like there’s no way, the Lord always makes a way of escape?
There is no possibility of being ashamed as a child of God because the witness of the Holy Ghost is able to make our hearts strong and sure. The only way we may think we can be “shamed” is if we consider the opinions of men greater than those of God. This is why when God asks you to do something that seems foolish to men, it feels like shame to you. But this calls for a heart check. Whose voice are you exalting—God’s or men’s?
Charge: You can lean on the everlasting arms of God.
