“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”

Psalm 42:5

Although the enemy continues to devise evil means to attack the Christian faith, we can be sure that our love for God is woven into a strong defense for us. What can separate us from the love of Christ? Your response should always be, “nothing.” Even in the midst of every storm, we should always maintain an attitude of praise and worship to God.

Paul and Silas understood what it meant to be hopeful in God’s presence, which is why they prayed, praised, and worshiped Him in prison. Regardless of the seasons or phases we encounter in this present age, we must continually remind ourselves of the mighty works of God in our lives. Beloved, you must fix your eyes on Jesus whenever certain circumstances challenge us with the question, “Where is this God of yours?”

Our responses during hard times can either strengthen or weaken our faith in God. Our relationship with and fellowship in God’s presence should not wane but grow stronger in faith, love, and hope in Him.

Charge: Let us not be weary in well-doing. Hope in God.
