“And the women, her neighbours, gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.”
Ruth 4:17
We have seen repeatedly that God does not just do a thing for the present only but with eternity in view. And more so, there is always a purpose for everything God does. Through the story of Naomi, we saw how she became relevant and useful in God’s divine plan through many generations.
Naomi became a grandmother when Ruth gave birth to a son, and with that son followed many descendants through which salvation would eventually come to men. She was no longer just Naomi, or Mara (bitterness) as she had called herself because of trials, but a chosen one.
This is the same way our lives are not just by chance but a pathway that should lead others to Christ. We have to begin to look beyond ourselves and understand that God has a purpose for every one of us in His eternal plan. You and I have a major role to play in what God is building. Therefore, we must be wise enough with all humility to begin to see ourselves as an entrance through which men can find a dimension in God.
Charge: You have a divine role to play in God’s agenda; pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you through it.
