“Let all your things be done with charity.”
1 Corinthians 16:14
It is a little baffling that the Bible would say that if you give your life, but you do not do it with charity, then you have done nothing worth noting. If you do everything that makes people call you the best person on earth, but there is no charity, God does not count what you did as anything.
This is scary because it makes us realise that we cannot do without love. It makes us realise that anything not done from a heart of love is considered not good enough by our Lord and Saviour. This should make us take a moment of reflection to cry out for help, and ask the Holy Spirit to teach our hearts to love.
If we look at Jesus, we would see how He did everything in love. Even the times He was angry with the people who turned His Father’s house to a marketplace, His anger and zeal had its root in love. So much Love for His Father that it hurt Him to see His house being desecrated, and love for the people who were doing the desecration—so much that He corrected them immediately lest they bear the wrath of their errors from the Father. Let the love in your heart proceed from God. You must love God and love people. Not one or the other.
Charge: Let love lead you.
