“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
1 Corinthians 16:13
Our passage is a charge that is much needed for our hearts today. Especially with the world becoming a place that challenges the truth we hold dear, and makes us feel like the abnormal ones for doing what is normal. We must watch very carefully. Watching means setting up systems that ensure you do not fall. Because of the precarious times we’re in, it is so easy to fall away if one isn’t careful.
So, we must watch by first ensuring that we are accountable to the Holy Spirit—ask Him to search your heart consistently, listen to His voice and obey immediately it comes, and most of all, fill your heart with the Word of God. We must also stand fast in faith. Hold on to your faith like you would die if you moved an inch from the presence of Christ. Fight whatever attempts to turn you away from your goal of a Christ-like life and eternity in Heaven. Fight it. We’re in a war, so don’t be gentle with anything that tries to separate you from the greatest gift you have received.
Lastly, be courageous and be strong. Be bold. Stand up for what you believe in, and do not let a people who have embraced abnormalities make you ashamed of who you are in Christ.
Charge: Be on your guard.
