”In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
We normally find it easier to give thanks in good times than we do in difficult times because of the way we feel when things don’t go as we expect. But God never promised us a life that is free of troubles because we are born again. Instead, He promised to be with us when we go through them.
David is a perfect example of a man who gave thanks even in a difficult time of his life—when he lost his son. The truth is that complaining doesn’t change your situation or make it better. Rather, it worsens it (Matthew 6:25-34). Paul and Silas praised and thanked God while in jail and facing possible execution.
As believers, we give thanks not because everything is okay, but because we know that we have the victory at the end. We give thanks to God for He is good and His mercies endures forever — both in good and bad times. Therefore, we can give thanks at all times because it is God’s will for us.
Confession: I will bless the Lord at all times, for He is good.
