“Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.”
Psalm 64:1
We live in a world filled with evil and attacks of all kinds from the enemy. The pressures and circumstances that we find ourselves in naturally are those that do not encourage one to be on the side of truth. So, it becomes a matter of war for you and me to stand firm in the faith.
Our ability to live above the wickedness that we see in our world today cannot be possible except that God helps us. And today’s bible verse seeks to remind us of this truth and just like the Psalmist constantly seeks deliverance from God against the threat of the enemy, we would have to do likewise. We would have to acknowledge first that we are not perfect and, therefore, cannot protect ourselves, and then earnestly seek the face of God who is our very present help even in time of need.
The enemy is always lurking around; in fact, the Bible says that he is like a roaring lion seeking whom he might devour. But we have a God who answers prayer and will not allow the righteous to be devoured by the wicked.
